We finally made it to summer! What does summer mean to you? Family time, fishing, lakes, boating, cabins, vacations, a bit of a slowdown from the school-year calendar, etc. As a mom myself, I know the importance of all of these, however, summer for our family also means getting ready for Vacation Bible School at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
This is truly one of the best weeks of summer at our church! The excitement and energy you take in from the children—who attend from throughout the community—is a feeling like no other. I am blessed to be entering my fifth year in leading the opening and closing portions of this amazing week and am looking forward as we gear up for this year’s theme, Game On!
VBS week promises to be full of exciting discoveries, all unique to each child and volunteer who enter our doors. For you see, everyone needs to hear the stories of Jesus and His great love. I know the impact goes well beyond the 300+ children who attend and the 100+ volunteers who work to make the week a success. VBS is a mission field…we simply plant the seed and know that God will grow it where and when it fits His will. Perhaps it is a child sharing the daily story with parents, grandparents, or caregivers. Or sometimes, it’s simply a preschooler shouting the songs of Jesus’ love at the top of his/her lungs up and down store aisles while parents shop.
What are you doing the first week of August this summer? Come join us! We would love to have you on our “team”!
