Let’s Think of Something to Do While We’re Waiting

Let’s think of something to do while we’re waiting. I remember those words being sung by Fred Rogers, the host of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, when that show was a regular part of our home life when our sons were young. I think of those words, and can actually hear Mister Rogers’ voice singing them, every year when Advent begins and the wait for Christmas intensifies. I hope that you remember Advent is the season in the church year that calls us to prepare not only for Christmas, but also for our Lord’s return in glory. It also reminds us to prepare for our own death, which can happen at any time and will happen to us all. There is only one way to be ready for all of that, and that is through faith in the Christ of Christmas. Jesus Christ is both God and man Who was born for us, lived for us, died for us, and rose for us. He was our substitute Who did all things perfectly for us. He still comes to us through His Word as it is revealed orally (spoken), written (the Bible), and sacramentally (Baptism and Holy Communion). He shares Himself with us and gives us the privilege of sharing His love and grace with others, beginning in our own family.
So, if you are looking for something to do while you are waiting for Christmas—and remember, contrary to what many think, waiting can be a good thing—I invite you to come and be part of Advent at Beautiful Savior. Then join us for Christmas as we celebrate the gift that is better than all others—Our Lord Jesus Christ!
A most blessed Advent waiting and Christmas celebration to you in the name of Christ!
